Hi I have a budget 76 vette project and I'm looking for advice on the best cheap sbc headers as far as fitment and quality. Either shorty or longtubes. Does anyone have any experience with some of the ebay headers or summit brand ones? I can't afford $400+ for a set of real nice stainless headers and this is definitely a cheap thrills project since I'm in college.
I bought a set of the summit headers and they fit up fine on my 77. I didnt have to remove, change or alter anything. I wrapped them with the black heat tape and coated the tape with the black silicone spray. It seams to have cut down on the heat at the floor boards. For the price I am very pleased.
Summit has their headers on sale for $81. They are a nice performing header. They'll look terrible after a few months, but that won't hurt performance. For that price, you can afford to replace them every few years.
I paid about $130 for the ceramic coated 5/8" primary tube shorty ones on Ebay about 5 years ago. I had to massage the driver's side one a bit at the collector to clear the motor mount on my '81, but they perform great and still look new, even being driven around 10k+ miles/ year.
God bless, Sensei

You can not beat the Summit or Jeg's house brand. They fit great and they last. I have used several sets over the years. Spend the left over $300 or $400 on something else!
I've got headers and full dual exhaust off my 79 that I'm returning to stock. Several years old but less than 1000 miles on it. Will be sandblasting and painting it shortly.
$300 + shipping, or we can work out a meeting near Indianapolis.
