Default Air intake question....

So I had a thought this morning.....
Modern corvettes benefit from the having an air intake that sweeps into the front nose section of the car and further away from the engine bay. So wouldn't a C3 also benefit from adapting a modern corvette style air intake?
Something like this:

So it pulls in air from the front nose up in the radiator compartment?
I would imagine it would look a wee bit different and maybe even off-putting but would it work?
Anyone ever done this? Curious to hear results if someone has....

Yes. The factory came to the same conclusion around the '76 or so model year. Air intakes moved to outside the engine compartment and air was ducted to the air cleaner through flex tube.

Latter Corvettes have an "air intake that sweeps into the front nose section of the car".
The 73-79 med rise hood allows either from the front or cowl induction.
Either way works.

Thanks guys. I thought they did not start this until the c4 but guess I was wrong.

What is considered a medium rise hood> Is that the standard non-l88 or non-high rise hood?

There was the functional l-88, it just brought it in from the cowl instead of the front. I don't see how you could get a filter like that over a c3 radiator. But Im sure it could be done with a some custom work.

I have seen people bring air in from the wheel well. I can't remember who else, but durango boy used jeep intake parts and flexible hose and used a cone filter down by the passenger wheel well. Im sure you could find it in a search. That way seems the most economical and easiest.
