I use one. It is great. You never even look at the tach when jamming through the gears. Just wait for the light to flash and grab the next gear. Mine connects to the tach lead coming off the computer. I used to have it off the tach lead from the CD box before the FI. I don't knowwhat type of ignition you have but I'm sure there is a way. Mine is mounted right between the speedo and tach and the steering column.

You just put in the RPM "pill" you want it to flash at. It can be hooked up many different ways, if I remember correctly even straight off you stock tach wire. If you have MSD ignition there is a tach wire it attaches to.
I have an Autometer shift light like Gordonm for sale cheap perfect condiition let me know
I have one mounted in my console and you can see the shift flash even in daylight with peripheral vision. I would prefer to have it mounted in a pillar gauge pod but it seems no one makes one. http://www.autometer.com/cat_accesso...l.aspx?vid=199
If you have the old stock points it should be able to be connected to the - side of the coil. Same way you would hook up an electronic tach. Then the positive and negative hook ups also.
You can see mine on the steering column in my avatar. Just a big hose clamp is all that is needed.
