Default Need help trying to pull my 350

71 350 4 speed, stock. Please help this novice pull his first engine. I'm trying to pull the engine and leave the trans in the car. The engine separated from the trans about a half inch, but it just won't let go and come out. Is there something that I'm missing?

I removed the engine to bellhousing bolts, motor mount bolts, radiator + support, PS pump, fan + clutch, alternator, starter, and z-bar. My cherry picker is reaching from the front of the car, and I'm using a carb pad mount.

Any ideas, or do I just need to be more assertive?

What you are missing, if you got it a 1/2" apart already, is a pry bar. Assumig you have everything disconnected and there is nothing that is visibly hung-up, I would try a little pry bar action on it.

I always prefer to do engine and trany together. Other then disconnecting the shifter there is not much more to it and it make putting it back together and getting everything lined up much easier.

Well, the engine's out. Thanks for the encouragement. Gotta love the old pry bar.

By the way, your '81 looks pretty amazing.

Thanks. And when you reinstall the clutch, see if you can find someone to loan you a real transmission output shaft as opposed to the plastic alignment tools. I always have better luck with the real thing.
