Default Nastee staked Dragula's heart

If anybody is interested in how the race between Nastee383 and Dragula55 turned out, here's the scoop. They lined up at Emerald Coast Dragway today, and Nastee won with a low 8 (.30 something I believe) to Dragula's 8.76. But by the end of the day, Mark had the rustoleum poster child 55 Chevy down to an 8.05. With a little more tuning, he would have been into the 7's easy. Not bad. But they never lined up again, so Cedric gets to have his car's picture pasted in Mark's window all the way back to NY. Thanks to both of you for the grudge sports this past week.

Isn't it nice to see how two people can challenge each other and yet still do it in a friendly manner? Hopefully this sort of thing will rub off onto others here. Life's too short to go through it being constantly miserable and one eyed.
Good on ya guys. Well done to both of you....you're both winners.

Congrats Nastee on the win, and congrats to both of you for good sportsmanship. What is the weight difference between the two cars. If Dragula could have shedded some weight the results would have probably been quite different. Hope you all had fun.

Isn't that why Dragula's car is rusty, so he'll be alittle lighter each year  !

Congrats to both contenders, either one could put their pics on my windows ;) . Very good times guys :yesnod: .

Sounds as though there's more to the story. Since Dragula55 was running low 8's and maybe "down into the 7's easy". Just got to wonder what the results would have been if Nastee383 had run, and tuned thru out the day, and at day's end another "grude" match would have taken place.

Anyway, good job to both contenders... sounds like the way racing should be run.

Bullseye Ganey. When we go to the track, it's always in fun. Sure we want to rip our competition's head off on the track, but between rounds we're all friends. (mostly anyway except for a few that take it too seriously)
I did get a 15sec mpeg of the run, but I still need to download it and see how big of a file it will be.
BTW, we went a 4.55 in the 57, with considerable tire spin, so the rustang better take a trip to the salt too...

Ganey,
The 57 is a Bel Air coupe pro-street. It weighs in at 2900lbs, 648, big chief heads, 2 stages of n2o, lenco 5-speed. The body is a full scale glass US Body Source piece. It's not a true street car by any means, but it's still cool to se a full size 57 Chevy hit 160+ in the 8th mile. We also run a 55 Chevy Bel Air sed all steel car that weighs in at 3600lbs, and we've cranked it to a 5.04 @ 148.

Man, I had a blast Sunday! Thanks Nastee for the run. If you couldn't tell I wasn't real confident about my 1st run, I was really afraid something was just going to break. Thats why I didn't do a run before ours, I figured if I only got one that day it needed to be THE race. But after the first run, I realized one thing...the 6000RPM rev-limitier chip in the MSD had to go, so out it came and in went the 7000 chip. Between that, learning not to yank the steering wheel when I yanked the gears, and leaving a little harder each time, I got it down, but never got the tire press right, and never could get off the line without it bogging. Man I was skating all over the place! The last run I did I dumped the clutch at about 3300RPM. It only stumbled instead of completely nosing over, but shook the tires hard all the way though 3rd gear. Still a 8.05, so that was close enough to 7s for me. But these are all just excuses...You did good, we both had fun. I never got to see you ran with the bottle on and the 150 shot, what did it do? Thanks for the good time...and the cool pic of your Vette. LMAO. Mark

Actually, I'd say the weight was in MY favor. Nastee has a '75 Vette, full interior, full everything. It's a show/race car. It's REAL nice. Then you have my '55. Besides all the weight that has rusted off it, it's got a fiberglass tilt front end, little bucket seats, not much of an interior, it's probably around 3100lbs. My big problems were getting of the line without bogging it (it was hooking good, so good that it was pulling the motor right down) and then keeping it straight down the track. Lack of experience racing against someone thats benn down the track a lot, he got me fair and square, and I still had a blast. Some good shocks, the right tire press., and about 4000RPM lauch should get me running right. Thanks Nastee383!

Well, since I won I thought it best for DRAGULA to do the initial post. First of all, it was fun. If it wasn't so crowded I believe we could have raced more than once. The actual times were 8.166 to a 8.769. He did get me on reaction time .061 to my .116. I knew by looking at the time slip his run wasn't up to the full potential of the car. The difference in mph was only 1.5 mph. He gave up .5 on the 60', 1.82 to 2.31. My son told me he had run a 8.05 but I thought he had his cars mixed up. I would have loved to run again with him pulling that ET. Would have come down to driver skills maybe. My other reaction time was a .013 so...who knows. DRAGULA, I didn't know you were winding that thing out to 7000, I was shifting at 5600. As for the weight of my car, for those who are curious, it's 3450 and right now I weigh 280, so it's definitely no lite weight! DRAGULA, I only got to make one N2O pass before my family got that "can we go home now" look. It was a 7.345 with a 1.59 60'. I've done a little better with a 125 shot (7.30) but that was with a 1.50 60'. I think it has some 7.20's in it definitely. Hopefully Chip will finally get this street car shootout back on track so I can compete again. Dually4wd, I missed your 4.50 pass. Got to the fence too late! Anyway, ya'll got me started again so I'll probably be back out there next time they're open. There were alot of Mustangs out there I would like to hook up with. Not the slow ones but some of the 7 second ones. Anyway, I had a good time and DRAGULA take care of yourself in New York. :seeya
