3994026 1971 454 Closed Chamber 425 HP LS-6, 118.0cc
Yes, They are the real deal. Closed chamber heads so piston selection must be made with this in mind. Great price!

Yes they are open chamber with 118 cc, I dont think there are any closed chamber heads in 1971 and on, but sure I may be wrong.

3994025 are listed as open chamber 118 CC
3994026 are listed as closed chamber 118 CC
http://www.teufert.net/bbchevy/bbhead.htm
http://www.nastyz28.com/bbcmenu.php
http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-ca...es.asp?group=6
http://webpages.charter.net/68bowtie/bblock.html

This site doesn't list the 3994025 but lists the 3994026 as open chamber 118 CC.
http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm
http://www.fastnuf.com/bbccastingnumbers.html

This site lists both as open chamber 118 CC.
http://www.chevellepages.com/numbers...ng_Numbers.htm

I would bet my original post was incorrect and they are open chamber. Sorry for the confusion. Now I am confused as well.

Unless you are building a really big engine, a hot street mill would be better off with oval port heads if you are using factory castings.

3994026 ... I do not know.

I have speedpro catalog that has a dozen pages of head specs. Dunno if they're right/pretty close/wrong.
It indicates:
3994026 1971 454 103.1cc

My understanding is, like Hamadup, that 1971 up are open. Again, I dunno.

OK, I thought the Vette LS-6 was an aluminum head, and the chevelles had cast iron heads.

3946074....69&71...rect...OPEN...'69 427 L88, ZL1, Aluminum, 118cc chamber
'71 454 LS6, "round exhaust port"

3994026....71......rect...OPEN...454 LS6, 118cc chamber

3919842....68-69...rect..CLOSED..396, 427, Aluminum L88, L89, 107cc chamber

Im leaning toward these being open chamber heads because of the year as are others but these sites list the 3994025 1971 casting as an open chamber and the 3994026 as Closed chamber. Could it be the difference in a production chevelle LS-6 and an OTC Crate LS-6?

to answer the original question, they are not heads that came off a 1971 LS6 Corvette.
