Engine Tuning Issue
I have an '81 Vette with an Edelbrock carb system that is giving me a bit of trouble at the moment. Until recently the car has always run a little rich (partly because I have moved to an altitude of 8000') but has performed beautifully. I noticed lately that it has seemed to be running a little richer than normal and was blowing a little smoke on warmup. So I leaned it out a touch and it started running better but then was smoking much more and continued even once warm (Checked the oil and pressure, level and temp is fine, air cleaner is also clean).
So I went to richen it back up to where it was but unless I go ridiculously rich to the point where performance drops right off, I can't seem to get rid of my smoke issue. Is it purely a tuning issue where I just need to take the car to someone who has some decent tuning equipment (better than my ear), or could it be more than that?
Thanks!
