Installing new starter
74 350/auto - New starter solenoid does not have R/I terminal (old starter did) QUESTION: Where do I hook wire that ran to R/I terminal on old starter? Was told just to tape it up but car will not start. Thanks

what Distributor do you have ? points or HEI ?
what wires do you currently have connected ?
If points you will need to add a Diode, or Relay.

Points - Battery wire and alternator wire to "B" terminal Start/Iginition wire to "S" terminal No R/I terminal to hook coil wire to. Double check with parts house supposely correct starter. Thanks

if possible take the starter back, and get one with a run terminal.
I assumed he volunteered to go mini-starter.
with no Run terminal you will have to add a Diode or Relay.

The switch that is on the new starter is for HEI ignitions and it is also shorter than the old switch. Possibly they gave you a metric starter as they are almost identical in appearance and only experienced counter people would know that problem....
