stalling problem
I noticed yesterday that with motor running warmed up in park, when I depress the brake pedal the idle speeds up and becomes steady. I'm going to try a new brake booster.
Operating the headlights or wiper door dosen't affect the idle.
in traffic when you stop?
If so, your symptom is one of vapor lock.
Try insulating the fuel line from fuel pump to the carb and installing a insulating type of gasket between intake and carb(the thicker the better)to help keep fuel from boiling in carb....
This is just a tip, but I had a similar and those actions solved my problem seven years ago.
Hope this helps..Good Luck
I've sprayed carb cleaner at the base of the carb with no effect - I did notice that the bolts attaching the carb to the intake were not torqued, I torqued then down.
I'm thinking one of two possabilities, do these sound reasonable.
1) my converter is going bad, or something else in the transmission. The vacuum hose to the modulator was a little to big, so I replaced it with a tight one. Could bad vacuum to the modulator cause something to go bad?
2) vapor lock. This problem just started all of a sudden. Is it possible that I got some bad gas? Could bad gas, maybe got the bottom of the tank, and water had leaked into the tank, cause the problem I'm having? Would a car with vapor lock idle in nuetral fine - in neutral I'm still able to go to WOT with no problem, if it was vapor lock, wouldn't opening up the trottle, even in nuetral cause problems.
Thanks,
Matt
