I bought a fuel pump for a 78 corvette and it only has a in fuel hole and an out one, should it also have a hole for a vent line?

Is there a return line on your frame next to the feed line? The feed line is 3/8 and the return line is 1/4. If your car has both lines on the frame you have a choice. Either back to the auto parts store and get another pump ( one with a return) or plug the return line on your frame.
GM put the return line on to help with hot fuel issues. vapor lock

Whats the downside of plugging it?

Default Fuel Pump

Autozone, Advanced Auto, PEP Boys, NAPA or any of our supporting vendors.
The correct pump is about $35.00. Two tubes, on supply, one return and a threaded port for tubing fittings to the Carb.

We get to call you Bubba and you possibly get to deal with vapour lock or flooding carb. Send it back and get the correct three port pump.

Alright, I have an autozone one on now and it still wouldnt start correctly so I went to local chevy dealer and they said that they had a 70's Camaro and put an autozone pump on and had the same problem, they said get one from them or summit racing.

Thats common with aftermarket pumps. The check valve in the pump doesnt work very well which means the fuel in the carb sipons back to the tank. Buy an AC from the dealer and that should fix it.
I put a cheapy on my car just to see. Lars had said if you remove the clip from the needle it might stop the fuel from draining -- it did.

How much fuel pressure will the stock AC fuel pump provide? I just got my healthy 383 back from the machine shop. I hate seeing the return line sitting there with a plug and I'd like to put it back in the system.
