I cannot get the o ring to seal on my Tremec TKO. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what size o ring is used?
yes i have that trouble and not only does the o ring leak but the cable housing itself at the tranny....will try to fix it this winter with a new custom made cable, housing, and i dont know what for the o ring....time to cruise this summer......

I'm not positive that the o ring is the only leak. There might be a leak at the housing where it crimps onto the cable...
I still get a drip out of mine. I have replaced the cable once with an updated version??? and I still get a drip. It drips right on my exhaust pipe so I have a nice brown stain on it.
I am by no means an expert on this subject, but I just experienced a similar problem. My speedo was jumping around and then quit. The culprit in my case was a bad cable. The windings around the center cable were installed backwards (i.e. the whole cable was backwards in the housing) causing the cable to suck up fluid into the housing. It eventually would have leaked out the top at the speedo, which had a bad crimp... After playing with a replacement that had the same crimping problem the speedo and leak are fixed...for now.

yep..right on the exhaust. And that fluid aint cheap
My yoke leaked a little but has seemed to stop
I've been checking everything to try and find where the leak was coming from.
that pesky leak was because the yokes were junk and the welch plug leaked at the rear...they sent me a "new and improved" one that actually had some rtv smeared on the outside!!.....needless to say i knocked out the plug and put in a new one with some jb weld and all is good as far as that leak...to test it pull the yoke and set it upright on a work bench and fill it with lacquer thinner.....give it a minute or so and see if a few drops fall on the bench...good luck.....
Had a leak from the speedo cable connection to the T56 mechanical speedo drive adapter.
Oil puddle on the garage floor.
I installed a flat rubber Ring ( like used for water faucet tubes ) and the leak is gone. There is nothing holding the fluid back once the car stops, so it runs back into the cable and out of the thump screw if not sealed.

found location of leak...or at least hopefully the only leak. It's leaking at the cable wear the housing is crimped. does anyone have any suggestions?
A suggestion that I might offer is the following supplier -->
Speedometer Service Co. 5801 W. Villard Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53218
Attn: Roger Luckow (www.speedometersolutions.com)
I had a custom cable built for a TKO 5-speed conversion from a 1978 Turbo-350 with cruise control - I kept the OEM cruise control system intact- thus needed the "TKO" speedo-cable (Ford) on one end & a screw-type cable end for the GM cruise control on the other end.
Roger built the cable & offered a choice of a plastic-jacket OEM type cable or an upgrade steel-jacket cable that would be more durable especially when exposed to exhaust-pipe heat. No leaking & smooth speedometer needle action.
I chose the upgrade cable he included the needed speedometer cable plastic gear calculated from my tire diameter & rear-end gearing - I also supplied him with the needed length.
Total cable & gear cost was $92 including shipping. Hope this helps.

thanks for the link...gonna try and seal the crimp area to confirm that's the only leak I got.
Let us know how that fix works. I'll give anything a try now. My exhaust pipe is quite brown in that area. My yoke does not leak. That was one of the first checks I did
