Ive asked this a couple times in the general area, but does anyone have a vacuum diagram? Ive got a vacuum hose that isnt connected to anything and Ive looked sever places and gotten several different answers. Ive got an AIM for the 74, but its no use, it shows all the hoses bundled up, so I still cant tell what goes where
it hangs off the front of the TCS (the little cylinder on the AC side of the engine between the carb and valve cover bolted to the block) but Im really not to sure on any of it, I never have been
Ive been told to over pass this little TCS but I still dont know where to put it
There are only about 5-6 hoses that Im not too sure about, the one coming from the dist, the whole TCS system, the front left and right of the carb, and (sorry to get REALLY technical here) the little black thing between the dist and the TCS

Oh...................................... .....That whoobie doo, why didn't you say so.
I'm still stumped, sorry man, wish I could help ya. I could buy ya a beer and a shot, if that would help. None of the supporting vnedors have a clue? Willcox usually chimes in with just the right link on this stuff. Where the hell are they, huh??
Miles, here is my guess. The hose used to go from the tcs to the distributor vacuum advance, but since yours is bypassed and has manifold vacuum to the distributor that hose is no longer needed.
I first tried chilton and GM and autozone and other online sources, then I get a copy of Docs catalog, it shows all this stuff. Its good stuff with lots of tips and drawings Earl
Im not too worried about keeping everything original, but I want everything to be able to work like its supposed to. the hose coming out of the drivers side front of the carb is going into the bask of the TCS and going nowhere, I just want to make sure I wont be hurting anything, and to be assured of that it just makes sense to have everything hooked up
Ill PM willcox and see if they know, I never thought of that
Bigblocktank, Ill take you up on your offer on the 28th, Im not 21 until then!
*edit* I tried PM'ing willcox, but they have either chosen to not accept PM or their inbox is full, oh well

Miles, I looked in my 74 Chevrolet service manual in the emission control systems page 6T-13. I believe you have a TH400 so you don't have a TCSsolenoid. You have a Vacuum Advance Solenoid. It has 2 wires, one will have ign power and the other will be grounded through a temp switch on the right head between #6 and #8 cylinders. The switch is grounded when the engine temp is below 93f or above 232f. My diagram shows 3 vacuum lines to the vacuum advance solenoid. On one end there should be 2 ports, the perpendicular one goes to the distributor vacuum advance and the straight one goes to full manifold vacuum. On the other end of the vacuum advance solenoid is a nipple that goes to ported vacuum. Since yours has been bypassed for better performance, those lines can remain plugged like they are.

so Im not hurting anything with it hooked up like it is? is there a way that I can make it look nicer? Id love to remove that little cylinder. so do I just shorten and plug the hose coming out of the front drivers side of the carb?
