Default Engine dies round bends and under hard braking

Hi, my '71 small block Vette dies under hard braking and cornering, it has an Edelbrock performer RPM top end package, a new-ish holley mechanical fuel pump and the fuel lines are good with good fuel pressure, the car is a pro tourer and i like to throw her around

it seems most noticable round right hand turns and is really annoying!
my friend reckons all 4bbl carbs do this, do they? if that were true then no one could circuit race a 4bbl car, i don't believe this, but i don't want to spend out on a new carb if it won't solve it
Could it be the bowls? fuel tank?

if so any recommendations on an upgrade for my Edelbrock carb, and is it worth it?

Thanks guys.
Aaron

Quick turns, short in wiring.
They do have "slosh tubes" and a low float level will cause stumble
Long turns tank pickup clogs with debree.

????
Quick thoughts.

What are the "good" fuel pressures?

Is there a spot in the fuel line that has a small kink in it?

Is it close to the exhaust?

Is it a new carb, or a rebuilt?

Are the floats set correctly?

I'm out for now, I'll check back,

Getting around 7psi pressure, i've just rebuilt the engine (not running yet) this was a previous problem that i'd like to sort out, is fine under hard acceleration
Carb was new approx 5k ago
My main question is 'should my carb be able to handle the g's of a VBP equipped Vette or should i expect this from a mid range carb'

if the responses are along the lines of get a Holley Hp or Demon etc for fast road then i'll do it, i don't want to waste time on parts which aren't up to the job

I'll check the float levels tomorrow, just trying to get a general concensus

I would say yes it should handle Gs if setup right or no blockage.
Something is wrong.

How does it die? Stumble, quick cutoff?
Stumble would point to fuel level, too high or low
Quick would be wires, short electrical

My old 350 w/ Edlebrock carb would do that, even at stop signs. Turned out to be a float adjustment.. it was set too low.

I've read GM discontinued Carter AFB carbs for this very reason(eldlebrock clone) back in the 70s. My 600cfm edle works great but I dont autocross or run road coarse tracks. I've read lotsa of guys with the same problem , the stumble on hard brakeing and cornering

The Edelbrock is an old style carb which is why i'm thinking about a more modern carb, was looking at the holley HP's, my mate raves about Barry Grant carbs, any thoughts?
I will adjust the float level first though, haven't done it before, is it easy?

AFB's are known for fuel starvation under hard cornering. At the risk of sounding repetitive, a Qjet is a better all around carb. And they are hard to beat for driveability with their small primaries. If you get your hands on one of those Edel Qjets you will never let go... Just my 2 cents.

Adjust float & switch to a Holley double pumper 650 or 3310.
