Default 1980 Wiper delay

I need to know where to find a wiper motor cover in good condition. All I can find is a plain cover without the wire. My delay doesn't work because the contact is bad I think. It is old and worn pretty bad. Can't seem to find that part. Thank you.

I will suggest that you check your motor.
The pin that rotates around makes contact with the delay wire on the wiper cover. The bushing around the pin get worn and the pin gets sloppy and misses the cover.

you can fix the pin with a 1/4" bolt and a drill press

There was a guy selling them on eBay all the time. Try a search.

Gary

Just did a search, turns out the 'guy' was Corvette Central. but I think this is one you already found.

If the contact is still in one piece you could build up the end of it where it touches the wiper motor shaft. Take a narrow piece of tin and form it around the contact end. Make it long enough to stuff under the plastic retainer and solder it to the contact center section.

Dale's right.
I also sanded the black plastic back a bit to ensure metal to metal contact.

I soldered a piece of tin to where the metal tip was worn off. Not sure if the pin on motor is making contact. No luck yet, but will keep trying. It would be nice to see a photo of the inside of a cover in good condition to compare it to. Do you know a way to test the cover to see if current is going threw it? There looks to be a resistor connected to the wire coming threw the cover. I do appreciate all the advice people have given me on this. Thank you.
