I have what looks like antifreeze under the passenger foot well (floorboard) side of my of my 1978. Seems to be coming from a vent tube under the passenger floorboard. What is the vent tube for? The carpet is dry inside the car. What is my problem? Thanks

I assume you have AC in the car. The vent tube is for the drain for the AC condensation in the case and should just drain off water. If it is anti freeze your heater core is most likely leaking.

If it is on the outside of the floor pan it could be your heater hoses leaking. Or, it could be your overflow bucket leaking from the hose and running down, or the bucket itself may have a crack in it.

Thanks for the quick replys. I do have AC. The car stays inside. I have not driven the car for a while. I went to get on my bike and I saw the fluid. I now have a pan to catch some and get a better look at it. Thanks again.

I'm betting it's the heater hoses, where they connect. Especially if the car has just been sitting, and the fact that you say it looks like antifreeze. Jack the car up, put a jack stand or ramp under it for safety, lay on your back and look just behind the passenger front tire. You'll see where the two heater hoses go straight up, side by side, and connect to the heater core. I'm betting that's where your leak is. I reread your post and you said it appears to be coming from a vent tube and looks like antifreeze. It could be possible that the vent on your expansion tank has a hose running straight down, and your expansion tank could be overfilled.
