Does anyone know the difference in wiper motors from say, 68 to 76 ? I can't see any noticable difference in any of them except 68s cost alot more. I have an L88 hood with no wiper door. Can I use any corvette wiper motor ?
Nope! And for sure you don't want the 68 motor! The 68 motor is the odd ball and the wires are way different than the 69-72 or for that matter any other year Corvette! 73 is an odd ball but the wires are pretty much the same. 74-82 is pretty much the same.
Other differences in the motors would be the washer pump attachment area.
If you have a 76 I would suggest just getting the right motor for the car.
Thanks alot....This will help alot when I get to that part of my 68 build. What I'm actually doing is rebuilding a 68 convertable. I have a 68 bbc T-Top with matching numbers. I picked up this convertable that was not numbers matching & a complete mess. So I'm building it the way I want it. I had a newly rebuilt 396 so I put that in with a 200R4 tranny. Then composite suspension front & rear. Removed the wiper door & put an L-88 long hood on it. Also upgraded the interior with more comfortable seats etc. I'm now preping the body for paint. It's been a 3 year project so far.

OK, then what you really want to do is get a junkyard generic GM motor from the era, one without that stupid pump on it, and use a 15 bux generic pump from a parts house...easy enough to match up mounts and action....then if you into electronics or maybe just wiring, put on intermittant wiper action...really fairly easy...IF you know wiring, sounds like you do....I built my own years ago, complete with operating wiper door in the '72, but I am a ET from years ago....
If you use a later year motor, use the wire schematic on the help repair for the 69-72 motor. It's simple and can made with ease. You can just bypass the limit switch and the over-ride switch in the schematic and you should be good to go.
