Default wiper controls

My wiper control soldnoid behind the tach has just one valcuum hose going to the opposite side of where the filter is. Is there suppose to be just one hose coming into this unit? (corvette central 653150) If not where is the hose on the side of the filter supposed to be going?

Can I use a $2.00 toggle type switch for the electric winshield wiper control under the dash instead of the $20 stock item? (corvette central 593121)

thks

The solenoid should have two hoses. One as a supply hose and one to run to either the relay under the wiper arm 69-72 or to the actual relay 1968.

The purpose of the solenoid is to block vacuum, we have a page on our site that explains this in more detail at this link: http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=218

Yes, you can put a toggle switch in there! But I would bite the bullet and get the correct switch. If you can buy this from Central for the listed price I would jump all over it. A month ago, the replacement switch shown discontinued!

The supply will dry up and like everything else consumer equilibrium (Basic Law of Supply and Demand) will take hold on eBay. It is quite possible Central is not aware this part is no longer available.
