Default Timing-too much too soon?

I have a Mallory Unilite on my car and one of the advance springs is missing. I run 12* initial with 36* total that is all in by 2200 with the missing spring. I didn't think this was a problem and have run it this way for a while. Now that I switched to 3.70's from 3.08's I'm beginning to wonder. The thing doesn't hesitate, no bog, good plug readings, but it just doesn't seem to come alive until 2500rpm. I would think with the short cam and gears this thing would roast the tires, or at least give 'em a good chirping. I have 275/60/15's on the rear. Converter flash stall seems to be around 18-1900 if the tach is right. Just wondering if I'm getting all there is, or if I'm losing alot to something simple. Can post more info if anyone has a clue. I just want to smoke the tires now and then. Thanks.

Is your carb vac secondaries? If so, you could try a lighter spring to get them opening quicker. If you're not getting any detonation, you could also try bumping the total timing up a couple of degrees.

I just picked up my Mallory Unilite from them yesterday. they recourved mine and refurbished it for free. You should ship it down to them. the turn around is 2 days.

Vettes really plant the tires so it takes lots of power to spin 275's. In fact you don't want to spin your tires. :)
