T-56 6-speed conversion - What parts do I need?
I am planning to put a T-56 6-speed transmission into my 68. I am wondering what parts I will need to install this transmission in my Vette. Currently I have a Muncie M-21 installed.
What parts do I need except clutch, pressure plate, master, slave and crossmember?
Can I use the original driveshaft?
What else do I have to consider?
Thanks in advance
Olivier

Do a search for GWHITE75. He just did the swap with the aftermarket T56.
He sent me some info as well. Lot more involved than I thought. Clearance issues abound since the transmission is about 6" longer than stock. He actually had to modify the motor mounts so the tranmission U-joint could be centered in the tunnel (about 1/4" clearance on each side). There were also signioficant mods to the floorpan and console for shifter clearance.

That sounds like it would be too much work. Does the TREMEC transmission fit easy? Are there other inexpencive 5-speed or 6-speed transmissions that can be installed without major surgery?
