ok, i was running a champion rc9yc that is what my engine builder broke in and dynoed it with. made 453 hp. but the plugs fouled in like 80 miles. what do you make of this. they only did basic dyno runs to set timing make sure everything was ok, i think 5 pulls. i have cruised it on the street but have not been to strip yet and wont go till i put some fresh plugs.opinions?

Similar experience here. RC9YC's are too cold for your application. 63mako's autolites are the proper heat range. If you prefer AC Delco, the equivalent is #41-629, or FR3LS. If you like Champions, try RC10YC4.

AC Delco FR3LS with my AFR 195s. Never fouled on me.

One reason I used the Autolite is they are noticably shorter and the proper heat range. Way easier R&R and better clearance on the headers.

Yes. They are pregapped @ .044. That will be fine for your HEI. I always check them though.

You run a wider gap with the platinums. Works well with an HEI or in my case an MSD. It is the best conductor and they last over twice as long as a conventional plug. Here is a link comparing ther two.
