What part are you stumped on? Removing the side pipe requires a strap wrench and wiggling. Removing the muffler requires a thick piece of soft wood on a concrete surface. Drop the end of the side pipe from a height of about 1 foot a couple of times and the muffler will come out.
I've got the pipes off, its the inserts that are'nt co-operating and I already tried the drop on a wood block thing. It rapidly progressed to slamming it on the wooden block! That didn't work either.
Try some sort of lubricant/penetrating product, WD40, and the slamming/dropping on the wood. I've had relatively new inserts come out with the drop method and also ones that had been in many years. Did you originally install them? If not did someone perhaps run a screw throught the side pipe into the insert?
I had the reverse flows come in mine new and they were a PITA to get out. I put a metal rod in the curved open end of the pipe and hit it for about 3 hours with a hammer. As the insert gets deeper and deeper you have to put metal objects in because a straight pipe will become stuck because of the curve at the end. This got the insert about 3 inches out at the bottom. I then drilled a hole through the insert and put a bolt through it. The I hit the bolt several hundred times and it came out. I almost gave up, but i final did get them out. If they are reverse flows and have been in there for awhile prepare for hell.
Thanks for all the input. I've pretty much tried all the suggestions and have decided Yellow72 is right "They Are As One"!
Sandblast, paint and run as is for now.
went through this and posted answer before, just bring your pipes to a body shop and they can remove them using a frame straightner.probably in 10 minutes or less.It helps if you know him as there'll be no charge.
