These are my new HD side yokes from Van Steel. I bought these from a forum member that he never used. These are the HD units that are 17 spline. They mount like the stockers but there is a slight interference problem. The bolts that bolt the flange to the axle bump into the housing. The ears are in the way as you can see.
I called VS and they told me to just grind the tabs off. Being a saw blade salesman I just took a hacksaw and cut the tabs off. Took about 2 minutes per side. As you can see it gives plenty of clearance now.
Here is a side shot of the axles. They do mount a little different. The mount just like the outer axle does with the flange.
Pouring rain here right now so A test drive will be later but I'm sure these will work fine.

Not only the bolts hitting the ear of the diff it looks like in your pic that the flange was hitting the ear on the diff. Another nice looking upgrade Gordon.
Did you do this with the diff in the car?
Edit: I see the diff is out of the car in the first pic. I knew you were good, but that would be really tough to do in the car.

There was a little clearance with the flange. Maybe .015 or so but it was not rubbing.
No I had the diff out on my stand. Here is 2 nights ago.
Gordon,
Those look like Tom's 17 spline axles with stock snap ring or c clip? Not sure maybe not- but if so, you may want to call me on something I do to them that you will want to check.
Tom would say "Hey DUDE! we just sell the parts, it's up to you to make them fit!" You should add one of his (or the better made MArk Williams) HD differential caps to your housing too if you plan on launching at the drag strip. I know of a local road racer who had one of these flanged yokes fail at speed back in the 1970's and my friend has always been wary of this type of set-up since then. Make sure and use some really good locktite or see if the OEM french-locks will help those bolts stay TIGHT while in use.
