I am looking hard for some type of performance shifter for the 79 project. I have a 765r4 on the way from Bowtie Overdrives and did get the retrofit kit for the stock shifter.
BUT I really want to get a B&M ratchet shifter or something in there to run the gears better at the strip. I am not terribly concerned with the stock console but don;t want to butcher it beyond recognition.
I've though of just getting a quarter stick and putting a nice handle on it and making a bracket so it sits about right in the console and then fabbing up a slotted cover panel for it to come up through. Any other ideas??
Is anybody running any type of decent ratchet or performance automatic shifter that fits and looks decent in the c3 console??
A little help?
Jim, what r you running in the 9.xx second beast? Surely your shifting your own gears???
Years/decades ago, being a poor boy with just a Hurst his and hers, I learned to stick my fist on the console and push the lever forward with my thumb for each gear....no need to imitate a stick shift....
Do a search for megashifter install and you should find details of my install. It coulld actually fit the stock opening but I chose to have a custom layout so I cut out the console top, had an aluminum plate made and coated with a carbon fiber ovelay.
