Hi
Turns out the weird vibrating/grinding noise comes from the rear and I think the diff is broken maybe.
On hard turns the wheels make a really loud vibrating noise, as if they are locking up. But I wasn't 100% sure if it was the rear or diff. A few days ago I was trying to do some donuts and RIGHT away I started hearing a sound that was like bare metal rims riding on concrete, just a really bad metal on metal sound. I stopped right away, and it wouldnt even really do any doughnuts.
Any ideas? Could it just maybe be that the diff fluid needs to be topped off (I haven't checked in a little while), or is it probably something more serious? Drives fine in a straight line and corners normal as long as its not aggressive.
Thanks
You should change the fluid in the car and I would put in two bottles of the additive. This may free the sticking clutches. If I’m right, you car kind of feels like what we term duck waddle when turning.
If you are lucky, it's only the clutches and new fluid with posi additive will take care of that problem.. If that doesn't fix it, you might have worn spider gears and that would mean a complete rebuild of the diff. would be needed..
I would not suggest just putting fluid in it and crossing your fingers. Something is probably wrong and you would be better served taking it out and looking at it before you hurt it even more. Hopefully you still have at least a good core which is worth something.
