Default Installed predator pics

I still don't have the hood scoop on yet but I did order a a 5 inch GM cowl induction scoop. I think I should have gone for the L-88 but I'd like to stay in stealth mode.

The fuel line setup is using the moroso regulator plate and a moroso one inch spacer. I also used a holley pressure regulator and a pressure gauge.

That is a Predator carb :D . I remember those were all the rage in about the mid-80's or so. Supposed to be VERY simple carbs. For some reason, they have not been around much lately.

Not much for adjustments on the side shown. Doesn't the Predator cam have a cam inside it ? I too remember seeing them being popular in the 80's but don't know much about them.

Where are you getting a 5" cowl hood from? You need to take the intake off to polish so it'll match the nice finish of the Predator now ;) .

Nevermind how it looks, how does it run??? I've seen them advertised in Summit and always wondered how they really performed.

It does run but I can't really tell how well yet. I am still running it with open headers so I can't hear much but it is running smooth. The oil pan and bellhousing are next because they are damaged, then the exhaust then a trip to Kinston's 1/4 mile strip to see what it will do. The carbs are popular at the strip and the one I have is the drag version with the extended fuel bowl on the front side.

Here is a link to the hood scoop I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...ndexURL=0&rd=1

It should give some room for a bigger air filter. The two inch filter sits two inches above the stock hood which is only 1 and a half inches high. I am planning on fitting a normal three inch filter (height) but a drop base won't fit on the predator.

Glad to see you're getting it worked out. How in the world does that accelerator pump on the side work? I can't tell from the pic what activates it--can't see a linkage or a cam or anything. Is there an arm that pushes out of the carb body or something?

Way to go. Not many of us ever had the B***s (or whatever) to run them. You can imagine how they looked on my 6-71, sticking out of the hood. I liked the way they responed and so will you, as I have said before. If possible, you should get a little larger air cleaner, though. I'm curious to see how "stealth" you can be with the hood.

The linkage runs along the back. I guess that is because most of these are installed on blower motors sideways. I have a bell-crank that mounts to the drivers side of the carb that allows it to be run in the position shown in the picture. Not much for adjustments at all, just an idle and mixture adjustment screw. No jets at all. I am going to switch out the HEI for some sort of mechanical advance distriutor to avoid having to drill a hole in the carb. It has the instructions but I am feeling that going mechanical is the way to go on this. Any suggestions??
