I have a very similar set-up as you...only exceptions are L-82, 3.32 Rear, and stock convertor (1700 RPM???)and have this EXACT cam as advised by Comp Cams. I am not too pleased w/ it...very flat, no seat-of-your-pants pulling power. In fact, Chevy High Performance (March 2000) recommends this for a Mild 3-0-5, which really pissed me off after installing it about two months prior.
See if someone can run the Dyno program with your numbers...maybe I have other problems that would otherwise make this a good choice???
BTW, CHP considers "mild" as 319HP / 326TQ...not too bad (especially from a 3-0-5!)

I have the XE262 in a 383, too small in most opinions, but I think it was a perfect choice. Car runs 8 ohs in the eighth (12.5/7 quarter). Doesn't show big HP numbers on Desktop Dyno, but at the track AND on the street (tq/mileage), IT PERFORMS.
Question .....Whats the operational range & redline ? , I have a 427 in my 66........with the stock 390 hp chevy cam , 5600 redline ...my rear gears are also 308 (best et 13.7 @ 102 mph) & have been considering the XE268 cam ...........Since you spoke with Comp Cams & they suggested the XE262 thats the way to go :yesnod: just my 2 cents
i have the XE262 in my rebuilt L-48. and no, it's not the fastest, but it ain't slow either. you tromp the pedal & it will through you back in your seat on each gear shift. the 262 was recommended to me from a mechanic friend over a year before the rebuild, and was also recommended by the shop who did the work, i never spoke to Comp Cam people. both the shop and my friend thought this would be a good cam in conjunction to the 700r4 swap i was doing at the same time. i have gobs of torque, and can drive in 4th gear at 1200 rpm without lugging the engine and if you slowly squeeze the pedal it will just climb and pull away steadily. if you stomp it, it down shifts and off we go!! rule of thumb, XE262 for auto,XE268 for manual trans.
