Default Water in Floor Section Help!

Hey All,

I don't know what else to do. My 77 Vette was outdoors and we had nasty rain! My car had a Noah material cover on it and I still got about 2 inches of water only in the foot well area on the drivers side.
The seat carpet under the drivers seat was dry, so it is leaking only in the foot well.
I changed all of the weather stripping, I cleaned out the wiper valleys on both sides, I replaced the plastic covering between the door panel & door on the doors.
Any suggestions? I am stumped. :

Thanks
Jack

Probably ran in through the cowl. Best thing to do would be pull carpet back and get inside car & have someone run a hose over it

uHH, YEA. Likely bad news for you. Pull the kick panel on the drivers side and look on top of the #2 body mount, it should be dry, clean and rust free. It is probably wet and corroded. The issue will be the windshield frame or corner. Take a look ans see what you have, it can be fixed but its a pita.

I just put in a new speaker and the area was dry, not corroded.

Thanks

I dried out the whole area and the carpet too. It rained again last night, but I realized that the front of the footwell (under the pedals) were not wet. It is the wettest in the foot well by the hump under the front of the seat but not on the seat mounting level. How can the water be coming into there? Unless it is dripping straight down from the drivers side t-top, or running down the side of the center console. (I can't fathom water coming up the tranny tunnel and then down) My seats are dry (they are cloth centers). I am stumped.

Thanks
Jack

Dry the car out, get in it, and have someone simulate a rain condition with a water hose.

Another thought - in a pitch black garage use a flashlite and shine it thru the firewall, top and all other areas - will tell you where possible leaks are. Then, use black ribbon caulk around the windshield and other areas.

I had a similiar problem with my 78, water was dripping down behind the kick panel, onto the the front body mount and also onto the floor. After many many hours of work and frustration, including removing the dash, it turned out to be a seam in the wiper valley under the windshield. I had to scrape out the old factory body seam sealer and reapply new. It fixed the leak.
