Well... I took the Auto shop position at the high school I teach at.... they gave me a lot of money to spend and one of the things I want to buy is a dyno...
now that being said, the money is not unlimited so I am looking for the best bang for the buck.
Lots of options out there, and they are all expensive. Talk to all the different companies and see what suits your needs. DynoJet, Dyno Dynamics, Mustang, Dynomite, Dynapack, etc.
Try and get it sponsored also....tell the company to give you a good price and you will hang a sign or banner over it with their company logo or information. You never know what they might do for you.
We did this in HS for our swim team and we go PEPSI to buy the entire electronic timing and scoreboard device.
PS....Congrats on the new job....good luck!!!!

Sometimes I misunderstand what someone is trying to convey here. With my limitation in mind, I ask for clarity sake:
Is it true you have full-time employment as an auto shop teacher; where your primary function is to teach auto shop to high school students? And, is that a California public high school?
I have seen them for sale, pre-owned on the Racingjunk.com site. Check it out.

+1, Look for a used one if possible.
However, I did price a dynojet above ground unit last year and it was like 30K for a really nice set up and could also be used for a lift
I was gonna get into dyno tuning but my other company is sooo busy I didn't need another business to run, financially or time wise!

Contact the corvette tuners that you will find in the margins of the forum, maybe in the C6 tech section. On the east coast we have Cartek and East Coast Supercharging. Maybe a tuner has a used one to sell or they can point you in the right direction.
Cheap alternative: Buy a few Gtechs and take the cars to the track!!
Wish I would have read your post yesterday. There was an auction today in Phoenix and they sold a dyno for $500. It was the in ground type, so it would have taken a bit of work to remove and set up again in California.
This was a dealership that was closing. Car lifts, jacks, diagnostic tools etc. If there is a dealership closing near you, and they have a dyno...make them an offer.
