Default Brake Question

Last post

Haynes Repair Manual said 2 bolts on the caliper, there were 5.
As soon as I loosened the caliper bolts, brake fluid started to pour out.

I'm changing the rubber hose also.

When I put the new hose on, do I need to attach it at the caliper first or on the hard line? Or does it matter.

You're doing it wrong. There are two big bolts that hold the caliper on Those are the ones to loosen. Doesn't matter what end of the hose is first, but I imagine it is easier to put it on the car first, let it hang, hook it up when you get the new caliper attached.

When I removed the large bolts, that loosened the outside caliper. I had to remove 2 other bolts and a nut to remove the inner caliper.

The larger was 11/16s
the smaller were 5/8s

I think the caliper was leaking.

There's O rings between the caliper halves, when you loosened the 2 BIG bolts you broke the seal. Maybe that's your only leak if you didn't disturb the pistons.
Attach the rubber hose to the caliper first using the copper seal, then attach to the steel line.
