Anyone know what ***** Thumper kit will work with the Year one 400+ hp/tq 350 SBC? I am buying this crate engine and hopefully getting a thumper hyd roller kit to install but I wasnt sure if I should get the cam itself or go with the rollers also or even the entire kit including springs and timing gears... any ideas?
I have the yearone 350 and I like it a lot. Ive had it about a year and want to do some work this winter. I cant just leave it as it is, I wanna tear something apart.
No helpful information, but make sure and post what you choose

What heads come on that engine and how much lift will the spings take?
I can give you some inside information on that perticular line of cams. They were designed with the idea of giving a car the big chop of a high rpm cam, but still retain drivabilty. They open the exhaust valve early to so you can hear part of the combustion. I can tell you they sound awesome and sound like a much bigger cam that you will have.
The only issue I've seen is that most people go with the big one since bigger is better. They are afriad it won't sound tuff enough. On these, don't do it. On a sbc you will only want the small one and you will get a good combo. It will sound like a big chopping motor. The big ones have very low vacuum and lose a ton of bottom end torque on small cubic inch motors.
With that being said, they are more geared for the big sound they produce. If power is your game there are better choices.
Kinda generic info they give. I might be able to email them and ask what they say.
If your calling yearone...good luck. The three different people I spoke to told me three different things regarding the spark plugs. Maybe they will know, but it might be easier getting the information from the actual engine builders. I think it is a shop located in Texas somewhere, I have heard the name but can't remember.
