I am looking through the summit catalog, and I cam across some comp cams cam kits that come with a high energy hydraulic cam, springs, lifters, retainers, valve locks, valve stem seals, timing chain set, and assembly lube. all for around $275-$300 depending on what cam you choose.
Seems like a good deal to me, and Ive been looking around for performance projects for this summer and I thought I would start at the cam. Right now I have a stock L-48, what cam dimesions sould I look for?
For some reason they dont put the comp cams part number.
They list as options,
Duration @ .050" lift
intake exhaust intake exhaust
212 212 .440 .440
218 218 .454 .454
230 230 .480 .480
244 244 .501 .501
Im not looking for anything major, just something to boost the hp up.
Plus I am planning on converting to true duals this summer as well.
The 212 212 .440 lift cam is the CompCam260H. Its the mildest of the bunch and also the cam that I have.....you will really like the diff between the 260H and the stock cam :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: . You will also be more than impressed with the installation of any kind of true dual exhaust system :D :D :D . See my sig. It desk dynos at 275HP......a far cry from the stock 180HP.
W/ your 4 spd. 218 218 .454 .454 which is 268H will work great even w/ stock springs. Comp XE262 is similar w/ more ex. duration, needs springs, will work great.
cool, thanks for the replies, illl probably go with the .454 (268H) option. To install any of the parts that it comes with, Do I have to remove the heads?
