Default steering control valve!!!!

3 years ago I replaced my ps pump , hoses , cylinder and valve...And the control valve was bought new,not rebuilt.ever since I installed it I have always had a small leak from the valve...there was a small drop of fluid at the seal where the two halves connect together with tow bolts, and the fluid was like a grayish color and no one seemed to know why.....I never had to add any fluid, that's how slow the leak was....

Tonight I was about to go for a drive and found a leak on the garage floor underneath the control valve.Seems to be leaking more now.I tried to tighten the two bolts and I tightened them pretty hard but still seems to leak..but less!!

Should I attempt to rebuild it?It is the least expensive way and we are planning to go to the big carshow( the Nationals) in 2 weeks and don't want to miss it.

I appreciate the info..

I replaced my control valve with a rebuilt one from Auto Zone about 4 years ago and it has been fine. I think I only paid around $100.00 for it and its warranteed for life.

I believe all the "new" ones are made in China and the quality of machining is not as good as OE. In my opinion, you are better off buying a rebuilt original.

ok..That's the first I hear of that,so maybe if I rebuild this one I will probably end up with the same situation?

ok...I attempted to remove my control valve tonight but it's quite a pain to remove from the pitman arm...should I have both wheels off from the ground? I actually have only the drivers side off the ground...Would that make it bind some how???

TIA
