Default Need some help with my rear diff

Well I finally got the rear differential out of my car. I want to swap the gears from 3.08 to 3.7. I also know that fluid is seeping out of it, and the back cover is cracked where the leaf spring bolts up. Where can I find these parts? I might just take it to the guy I am going to have work on it and have him tell me what needs to be done. I am not very familiar with rear differentials.

That would be the best bet since you are unfamiliar with rear diffs

I hope your "guy" knows differentials of a Corvette very well. Check your side yoke end play. You may need to have those replaced along with the pinion shaft and the retaining bolt if it shows signs of cracking at the end of it. Make sure that you use GM limited slip diff additive and good 90w gear oil and not some crap from someone else. unless you have a good sorce on whale oil , so I have been told was used before it was changed.
The clutch packs may also need replacing, but HE should know this after they are removed.

Plenty of guys think they know Corvette rears but they are somewhat different than the standard rear. Make sure he knows what he is doing or you will be doing it again shortly.

There are 2 guys on the forum who are known for top-quality rebuilds. GTR1999 and TRACDOGG2 (sp?). Gary is in Conn. and Mike is in Texas. You can probably get a good rebuilt diff from Van Steel or Duntov Motors also. Van Steel is in Florida and Duntov is in Texas. I'd be suspect of a local guy unless he has a verified solid Vette reputation.
