Has anybody heard of uograding c3 corvettes with a newer style blower motor for more air flow. Is anybody making an adpater and what year blower motor are they using
Before you go to this trouble, make sure that you have 12V to the blower and the ground is good with no corrosion. You may need to run a separate, dedicated ground.
Got my C4 fan from Autozone. Made 3/4 spacer from ABS plastic. McMaster Carr has 12" squares for less than $25. The Wilcox article explanes how to do it. I cut the center hole with a Sabre saw.
Air flow is vastly improved. Well worth the effort.
When I replaced my blower motor a few years ago, I just went to the local autparts store and ask for one for my 71. When I took it home, it was obvious the motor was quite a bit larger; yet the mounting was identical. Everything bolted right in and it pushes more air than the original ever did. With that being said, it still isn't "great", but doable. Also consider I have one of the few 71 vettes without A/C, so my blower is mostly just used for heat and you don't need as strong of a blower for heat since the engine/trans/exhaust help out quite a bit.
