we do it all the time for guys that built their own engines and screwed up the ring job.....no need to pull the mill to re ring....you may consider all new rings .....why not? youre already there...good luck
How long does it take?
I am figuring 1 day to rip it apart, 2 days to put it back togetere and another 2 becouse sh@t happens...
ok... got the engine out and I have it in pieces on the bench.
Hopefully some one can help me with this.... after taking the engine out I did a leak-down test again... all cylinders read 90+.. very good, no great look of blow-by bast the first ring....
Can rings seat and unseat? O, rings were very sharp, cut myself 3 times, so they are not washed you from running to rich....
This major blow by came after about 1 minute run at 6200 RPM.
also a ruff running engine, as if a cracked ring... but no...
all the symptoms of a cracked ring, blow-by & ruff running... but that is not it.... also heads look great!
You need to take it to machine shop and have them bolt a TQ plate on it and run the hone through it a few times to get cylinders dead round. Hopefully just a little bit will do it.
Sharp rings? What kind were they? What oil have you been using?

From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
If you are running 6000+RPM for anything more than a few seconds between shifts then you need top notch parts everywhere on the motor.
I don't mean Eagle crank and rods either. You need the best stuff, that is full racing territory and you can't fool around.
I have allot of money tied up in my 427ci and I would take it to 7000RPM between gears no problem but for a sustained period of time above 6000RPM I would be looking at spending another 10 grand or so on parts.
I am not saying you are not running good parts just trying to help here.
As for your problem, my money is on the parts just couldn't take the RPM
