Default 1980 vette problems

just starting out so help is greatly appreciated. took the air pump off the motor was told increase performance, What does this do, what will it affect?

You will need it if your state has a yearly emissions testing. If they don't, then leave it off along with all the rest of the AIR system. Be careful that you don't take just part of it off as you may end up with an open vacuum line or something.

it will not give you more power .when you go to sell it the first thing people look for has it been messed with .if you have to take it off keep all parts .

I agree with terry ,no HP gain just one thing less to worry about , just plug all the holes in the manifold and keep the parts, some of them are worth a few bucks, Ron
