Okay, as it turns out. It is the motor, and not the wiring. I do have the new motor ready to go.
What I dont understand is that apparently, I am supposed to get the window to roll down half-way until I can put a bolt through a hole in the regulator assembly. This is supposed to hold the assembly in the proper position while I take the motor out.
The problem is....if I could roll the window down I wouldnt be doing this in the first place. The instructions also mention that if I dont do this step before removing the motor, I will run the risk of putting a hole through my door. or injuring myself.
Thanks! I don't want to rebuild the entire door at this point unless there is no other option. Your info will will most certainly help. The Wife & Kids think I'm gonna get my hand chopped off trying to do this.
If your window IS in the up position then get a couple rubber tipped clamps and attach them to the glass just above the door. This will keep the glass from falling down. Now remove the motor and put the new motor in place.
So I dont have to have the widow down to the half way point? The instructions say I need to do get the window 1/2 way down, then stick a bolt through the regulator assembly before I take the motor out. If all that is to secure the window, I guess I could duck tape the glass to the door as well.

The halfway point is where there IS a hole to stick a bolt through. You dont have to use it. It is the hole that when you get a new regulator assembly that already has a bolt through it.If that makes sense.

I guess that would be another use for duck tape. As long as the window is fixed and doesnt go down while the motor is out the scissor arms wont move.
Tipp City ....thats not far from me. I used to have a customer in Tipp that had 9 Corvettes that I was restoring and maintaining.
That does make sense. It was the part about "serious injury" and "putting a hole through my door that took me back. I think I have my MOJO back.....I'm going in!
Getting that window motor out was a @#$%*&! I think I may have bent the inner door pannel a little.
If I were to drill out the lower rivet that fastens the lower portion of the regulator assembly..It seems that would allow me a little more slack to get the new motor in there. The window is still duck-taped to the door. I also used "C" clamps on both bottom ends of the the glass as extra precaution.
I'm wondering if that piece is sping loaded, and would therefore move after the one bottom rivet is removed?

The spring is unwhined when in the up position if it was installed correctly to begin with. The purpose of the spring is to help the motor push the window up. It compresses on the roll down.
So you have the motor off? You can try to get it back in the way it is. The regulator will probably move a bit if you drill the rivits but I think you should be able to pull it back and reattach it with bolts. Makes sure the bolts are the right length...too long will hit the regulator and cause it to bind.
Normally you should remove the entire assemble to do this. Just to feel save play with it a bit you should be able to since the motor is off. Take your clamps off the window. You will need a second person. You will note that the window will go down by hand with resistance as the spring tightens. You should also be able to pull the window up by hand. Once you feel safe You can try this.
First disconnect the window from the regulator. Unfortunately it has been a while and I can not remember the entire proceedure. Take a visual and you will understand. From what I remember I had to postion the window in the right place to get a socket through to loosen the track stops. I had to remove the two bolts that hold the scissor part of the regulator (they are about armrest level). You can then tilt the back of the window up enough to slide the scissor off the track that runs the length of the bottom of the window. Once you have the window seperated from the regulator clamp the window in the full up position. You then need to drill out the rivits. Since you have no motor to compress the regulator. I would slid the regulator towards the door which should give you ample room to mount the motor. You can then use the motor to compress the regulator to the right size to pull it through the hole.
If you chose to go the removal route make sure the regulator is in the full up position when you install the motor. Remember the spring has to be unwhined.
Yes, The motor is out. I am going to drill that bottom rivet out with a 1/4" bit as recommeded. They also recommend 1/4 x 1/2 in. bolt to reattach the regulator.
P.S. Thats a great pic to the RH door. Very helpfull.
Thanks!
Thanks jdp6000, pepsiman & DWncchs for your help. The window works great!

Nice, glad we could help. Now if i can figure out how to get my timing chain cover on without dropping the oil pan i start using my car...I took it apart 3 weeks ago.

So you were able to remove just the motor by drilling out the lower rivet and leaving the regulator in the door?
