Well, the speedometer in my '81 doesn't work. We (my friend is helping me, I am not much of a mechanic) believe the speedo itself is OK, that its the cables. After talking to someone at a Corvette shop, I was told it may be the part the the two cables connect to. He told me the part (sorry, forget what its called) tended to lock up and break the lower cable. He told me that his shop hasn't found a vendor that carries them and the one business that rebuilt them went out of business. Anyone know of a supplier somewhere? I'd really like to not have to bypass it and lose cruise control, speaking of which, the cruise control DOES work, not sure how that news effects things, I forgot to mention it to the mechanic I talked to. Right now, I'm thinking I'll just spend the $16 to replace the lower cable and see what happens.
Yes, that is the part I was talking about. So the fact that cruise control still works doesn't mean much? I was hoping it was a sign the transducer was still good. how do you know for sure the part is bad?
