Luck Was With Me, (pics)
Prior to doing the carb replacement on my '75, I went across town to my buddies place to have the Q-Jet checked. Before setting out I always check under the hood; engine oil, coolant, etc.
From the time I left the house to when I got to his place.......... well, you see what can happen.
Classic Vette's are a labor of love, right?
Check out the radiator hose.
After it cooled down.
Was replaced and the bottom one checked. It was fine.

I'd say you were pretty lucky. We all know how it would have been if it were me. I would have been cleaning out from under the hood for weeks to get all that crap outta there.
Yes you are lucky and I'm glad it didnt blow up on you but judging from the swelling on the ends of the hose you already had fair warning-that hose should have been replaced a long time ago.
This also prompted me to put that on my list of things to change. I bought my 72 about 4 years ago and I dont know how old the hoses are. It would be good insurance to change the hoses and belts on it now, before its too late.

I've had my '75 for almost 6 years now. Every year there's something needed/wanted to do.
It's always a labor of love. Fell in love with the Corvette in '75. Just dumb luck that I got to own a '75.
