Has anyone repaired a cracked deck lid on a C3 convertable or have seen an article on the repair? My deck lid is cracked around the latch on the drivers side not allowing the deck lid to close flush with the deck. Do I have to replace the deck lid or can it be repaired. I seen a NOS deck lid on ebay for $450, seems high to me, but you rarely see C3 lids for sale. Maybe someone out there has a good spare?
I would be glassing that puppy in for a LONG time using roving and glass or epoxy from a supply house, or Loews Depot.....
before considering replacing it....
I have had the latch on my pass side give many problems over the initial phases of ownership....it managed to break that ledge on the body with the metal clip that catches the flip latch holding the metal loop under there....I bet you had the same sort of problem, only the hatch gave before that metal loop....
I had to modify the flip latch on the pass side to get my door to function correctly, dunno if you need to the same or not.....
get that hatch fixed, then PM/email me for a pix of what I had to do, as you mess with it, with a flashlight maybe a mirror, you will find how it works, and see the need for my modification that I saw no way around....since then there have been no issues...
There is a less than perfect C3 deck lid on ebay right now with a buy it now price of $25. My best guess is that it needs more than a little work. But there is nothing really obvious in the pictures.

You need to post good photo(s) of the damage area so I (we) can advise you in the repair procedure. I am confused because the hatch lid is really strong in the mounting area of the latch. Usually the problem is like what mrvette mentioned, it is the fiberglass "gutter" area where the stainless steel reinforcement is riveted to usually breaks.
