Is there an easy way to do the brake pads on a C3 ?
I did 3 calipers and they take me forever, it feels like I got them in out of luck. I push in one caliper and the other pops out. It is like a Laurel & Hardy routine.
All of the Vette vendors sell an inexpensive sheet metal tool that will hold the pistons in place while changing pads. Leaving the old pad in place while compressing the pisons will help too. Make sure that your brake fluid isn't too high to allow for the rising level as well.
If you are also wanting to bleed the brakes leave the bleeders a bit open while pushing the pistons in. Like the above poster said take about half the fluid out of the MC and top it off after you finish,.
My cheap solution was four pieces of scrap oak, about 1 1/2 inches long and maybe 3/4 inch think (not at home so I can't measure them). I just slip them in and they hold the pistons in place while I change things out.
