Default Best Headers for 1980

Hey folks

Curious to know what would be the best fitting (without modification) headers for a 1980 vette with a GM Goodwrench crate engine? I prefer not to modify steering, etc. Been looking at Hedman headers but wondered if anybody knew a bolt-on easy fit brand.

Thank you
Tony

Default Headers

Headman makes headers that will work. Make sure you match up your exhaust ports in heads to header flanges. You may want to look at construction quality(primary and flange metal gauge and thickness). While the cheaper headers will function, it is usually at the cost of longevity. I am looking at Doug's Headers for my crate. They work with D-port heads and angle plugs, and seem to be constructed of solid materials. If you do an advanced search on thios forum, you will get a lot of info and opinions. Good Luck!

I have Dynomax full length ceramic headers from Summit on my '80 with a GMPP 350 crate engine. I installed block hugger headers at first - trying to minimize modifications. I couldn't get at 4 of 8 spark plugs and the headers melted the poly in my motor mounts. The Dynomax headers were designed specifically for late C3 Corvettes, including motor mount and spark plug access.

If you insist on minimal/no mods, then at least consider the "back sweep" and heads-out configuration when you select headers.

Full length headers and a modification to the front cross member you can do yourself is the second best mod I made to my '80. The GMPP 350 HO crate was the best. I've posted details of the cross member mod to allow for true duals several times. I highly recommend the change.

You can check with Mcjacks. They have custom made headers for factory stock exhaust.

Default which dynomax you talking about guys?

i'm lookin at dynomax at jegs and i'm wonderin which one you have there,

i see ceramic coated block huggers for around 350, is that the one easy bolt in, no mods?

when i go dual exhaust, which i will do probably next year, cause i've spent my bundle on rear springs, all shocks, intake mani, carb, etc .. for this spring, i will try to find a 70s crossmember to switch out, but just for now while i have the valve covers off and everything cleared out of the way pretty much, i noticed my exhaust manifold is lookin pretty ugly, discolored and nasty..

by the way, thanks very much for all the replies, i just need to know if you mean dynomax block huggers ceramic or some other dynomax..

thanks again

Ive got the same headers on a 81 with auto trans. No fit problems at all. No burnt plug boots either and some are very close.

Dynomax Cerma Coat full length which is understood/ implied by headers. Otherwise it should be specified like Tri Y, 3/4 length, sidepipe headers, shortys.
