I would assume that your 73 is very similar to my 78, I run SLP rims with 255/45/17's in front and 255/50/17's in the rear.

I have a '73 and am very interested in this post too. Wheel diameter, width, and backspacing would be very helpful.
Are spacer/adapters necessary?
Thanks,
John

Do a search in this forum and the the general C3 forum using "18s" there is hours of reading. It depends on what diameter wheels you want to use and how much you want to mod to get them on. What seems to "bolt on" with no drama is a 17 or 18 by 8 in the front with a 4" backspace and a 245/45 tire. In the rear a 18x9.5 with a 5" backspace and a 275/40-18 tire. Now there are many other combinations that will work and you need to be more specific on what you are looking for (15s - 17s - 18s - ect - ???) to get a more direct answer.

agreed about the 22's.I'm thinking of the 17's/18's combos.I don't want to modify the body at all but will do anything to the syspesion and frame since I will have it out the winter.

Are you sure? Here's what one forum member did to get 18x10.5s with 295/35s on.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...clearance.html

It's a lot of work but the results speak for themselves.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...ls-are-on.html

That's a great result but do you want to go that far? You can get a 18x10 with a 5.5 backspace with a 275/40 tire with a lot less work and expense. Something to think about though.

Stock... No

your stock brake calipers will probably not clear the wheel

Why would the brake caliper become a problem (genuinely curious)?

In crawling under the car while on stands, it looked like the potential issue would be the inner back side of the tire at lock. However, in reality, I'm not sure the back inside edge would really be much further in since I'll be using a 245/45 --- and my test was with a 255/60 on a 15"

Check one of my recent posts on this topic, I just recently switched TT II's from 16" fronts to 17" and in the rear from 17" to 18"....better tire selections in the 17" and 18" for fitment and gearing...

This is what I would like to do. I'm curious about the bs on your TTII's. Others have posted using 275/40/18 with custom TTII 18x9.5 5.25"bs. I assume that you used a 9.5" wheel. I already have moved the ebrake bracket. I would prefer to use the 285/40/18 for the extra width and the 27" diameter on the rear.

Motorhead, can you tell us what back spacing you are using? What spacers/adaptors, if any, are you using?

Thanks everybody for all the great photos and information.
