As far as the speakers go, I’m probably to old to answer this question appropriately. We install the 100 watt speakers in the front of the pad in our shop and have great success with them in both sound and quality. This might give you a bump to someone else that has installed even better speakers. It’s just my opinion, but the cockpit of the Corvette is so small that you only need the 100 watt speakers to obtain a quality sound.
Paul74 has some new fangled speakers in his kick panels I noticed the other day. Maybe he would offer up some advice to you if you PM’d him.
Willcox Inc.

The upper dash speakers are Pioneer 4 x 6".

Given that the KHE-300 has four channels, I run the other two through Polk DB651 speakers (6 1/2") in the kick panels

And to enhance the ooomph (bass) I have an 8" subwoofer in the back. It has an integrated amp and is connected directly to the battery thus not pulling power away from the 50W x 4 KHE-300. With some tweaking of fade/balance/bass/treble on both the head unit and subwoofer all of this comes together very nicely. Once set to your tastes the job is done. I very much enjoy the sound.

And as Willcox has noted, the cabin is small. This combo of five speakers can rattle your teeth and the rear decklid (without distortion I might add). But being a little older the volume is not played that high.

Willcox is correct in stating that a good pair of modern 4-ohm speakers in the upper dash along with the KHE-300 will give a decent sound. You will have to dump the OEM 10-ohm speakers. I would imagine the paper cones are long gone in any case. The 4 x 6"s do not produce good bass, they are simply too small, but certainly the sound is acceptable. And you lose two channels of the KHE-300 with just two speakers so effectively 50W x 4 becomes 50W x 2.
Read the Willcox papers on removing the gauge bezel and upper dash. You can easily make a $500.00 mistake between the two.
