'71 coupe steering issue

Default '71 coupe steering issue
My new to me '71 has a steering issue I would like input on.

The car has a tendency to swerve right and left when the wheel is turned at speeds above 60mph. Sometimes to the point of requiring extra diligence to stay in the lane. The car has new OEM sized radial tires.

I am having the steering gear rebuilt in hopes of curing the problem. What else should I look into.

check the 4 wheel alignment.

Have you checked the tie rod ends, the idler arm, ball joints and bushings?
