Default 75 cowl Hood

I'm trying to get the cowl induction working properly on 75 L82. I traced the problem to the WOT switch at the gas pedal. It won't push the switch far enough to activate it. If I push the switch by hand it works. Does anyone know if they are a self adjusting switch? If so that means this switch is probably junk.
Does anyone know where I can find a new switch? The only place I could find it was at corvette cental. And they call it an automatic trans control switch. Is that what I need?
Thanks Craig

Yes, the trans kick down switch also runs the solenoid for the cowl flapper. They can be adjusted by loosening the mount bolts and sliding the switch forward or back believe.

I gave up on mine....removed the cowl flapper and have open cool air cowl induction 100% of the time. When I want to downshift, I downshift with the shifter instead of guessing whether that stupid switch will engage (or not)

There are aftermarket kickdown switches you can get that mount on the carb/throttle bracket and connect like a tv cable. these seem to be very much adjustable from the read but i have not tried one yet.

My car is a 4speed car. And there is no adjustment at the mounting bolt.

As I remember with my 1975, the switch under the dash that opened the cowl induction door on the hood was actuated by the accelerator pedal. The switch was self adjusting. There was a slider on the side. You could set the slider all the way to one end. The first time that you depressed the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor, it set the switch.

It may very well have been used as an automatic transmission kickdown switch as well. My '75 was a four speed. I don't know about the switch if you had both an automatic and cowl induction.

On my old 75 Auto, the switch controlled both the kickdown and the cowl flap.

I had mine removed, stripped and cleaned then refitted.
As Jim said, you move the switch all the way out ( I think ) then on first activation, ie flooring the gas pedal, it sets itself to that position. Make sure on first use, you have all carpet and mats if you have them, installed.

The switch was self adjusting.
Thanks Jim you jarred my memory. it is indeed the slider which adjusts..not the mount. Either way it is still an inconsistent and unreliable device, at least in my experience. It's current position also makes it an extreme PIA to get to and mess with at all.

like I said mine is unplugged, and the cowl flapper gut's are gone. However I would like to get a responsive downshift to my trans. I might give this a try and offer the OP may consider this as well.

A cheap fix if it ONLY for the flapper is to cut a section of vacuum/fuel hose that will snugly fit on the arm of the switch, I have done this numerous times and works great. The thicker the rubber, the sooner it will open...like duh. This is also if the accelerator pedal when matted to the floor is allowing your carb to be fully open. I have seen many that were only 3/4 throttle when the pedal was fully pressed. Then I remove the pedal assembly, (which is a pain) and re-work it to allow full throttle, and sometimes that corrects the flapper switch issue at the same time.

Yeah, that switch is self adjusting, but I think it's a 1 shot deal. I disassembled mine and cleaned it and reset it, it works every time I go WFO.
