The prefered "brand" is 2 containers of the GM gear lube with 1 little bottle of the GM limited slip additive. JUst like factory did it.
This is not to say members here have't had success with synthetics (mostly Mobil One), but the question arises as to how much (if any) limited slip additive is enough - or too much??
Eaton (who makes our posi's) reccomends the old GM gear lube mix still - and has remained totally (and conspicuously )silent on synthetics of ANY brand. My assumption is they want to avoid "recommending" (or dissing) anything made by anyone.

It will take about two quarts. I don't know which gear oil is the best. I know...I was developing a slight bearing whine in the differential of my 79 (3:73). I drained the differential and used Royal Purple gear lube. The whine disappeared. Royal purple says no limited slip additive is needed with their gear lube.
