Default Clutch Questions

I'm replacing the clutch and pressure plate in my car. Every mail order place seems to have different brands. Ecklers has GT, Summit Ram and JEGS has Centerforce and HAYS. Are they all the same? This is my first manual transmision and I'm sort of lost. Any idea what size I need? Also I'm replacing my motor and transmission mounts should I go for poly or just stick with the rubber? Any advice is appreciated.

I have a Centerforce II in mine, I really like the clutch, I just got a new clutch disk last week after 4 years, 20-30 passes at the strip, the clutch started to slip. I really like the Centerforce, I found their product to be a quality item.

As for motor/tranny mounts, I have heard people say both are the way to go, personally I'd probably go for Poly, but with that you will get more vibration transmitted to the body. I think it is personal preference on what types of mounts you get.

Cool Centerforce I've at least heard of them. I'll probably stick with rubber mounts since I'm trying to stay away from vibration.

I have been using Centerforce Dual Friction clutches for some time. Before that, I tried various other "hipo" units, and pedal pressure was so great it tended to trash the linkage (bending brackets, wearing out pivots, etc.). They have been reasonably reliable, though I'm currently having a possible problem with a Hays extra long throwout bearing possibly galling with the clutch fingers. GM and Centerforce throwout bearings have worked very trouble-free in the application, though.

I have a poly rear mount and don't find it causes much vibration.

Bear in mind it's one thing to transmit some vibration into the frame, and another into the body/passenger compartment. There is a possibility your floor pan could contact the crossmember, and if it does you will feel a LOT of vibration no matter what kind of mounts/bushings you use.

A trick I've found is to shove a rubber bushing between the floor pan and crossmember where they come close.

Thanks Noel seems like a lot of people are using centerforce.
