Someone please check these torque specs?

A Forum member graciously scanned these specs for me while I wait for my new manual. Could you please cross refference these for a 1977 350. Oil pan to crankcase (1/4-20 bolts) 80lbs in Oil pan to crankcase (5/16-18 bolts) 165lb ft. :eek: 165lb ft will snap a 5/16 like a toothpick, and crush the pan!! Is this spec a misprint? I know I read it right... :eek: :eek:

He meant 65 in. You don't really need a torque wrench for that.

I'm the culprit. It is a mis-print. Never noticed that before.

Thanks again for the specs Paul. The rest of them seem to be correct. I changed out my rear main last night (easy) and will install cap tonight. Man, it's been so dry and warm here that my car has been scratching on the garage door wanting to go out and play!!! Come late March... I'll be ready!

Ganey: Yeah, I thought it was lbs in!! I am **** on some things, and torqueing is one of them. I tend to overtighten things at times..so a torque wrench is my watch dog!! I got into that bad habit workin on Harleys...where if it wasn't tight...it'll fall off. :smash: :smash: :D :D

hehe,......yeah...where if it wasn't tight it would fall off or leak ! :eek:

hurry up...I wanna see that thing on the road the day after the salt is washed away !!! .....mine's looking to put some notches under its belt !! :cheers:
