Just got the '02 Corvette America catalog. They're offering aluminized fiberglass sidepipe covers for $429/pair. I've seen the fiberglass covers you can paint but not aluminized. Anyone seen these? Seems like a pretty decent price for replacements, especially if they can be polished to look like chrome.

I have never heard of those. Do they have a picture. I have the fiberglass covers, which I bought about 10 years ago for $300. I painted my covers myself but if someone had it done proffesionally they would end up costing more than $429. I have a set of slightly pitted original covers that I bought about 10 years ago for $300 and have been meaning to get them rechromed. I bet the $429 will be cheaper than rechroming the original covers.

Cool !
Do they mean vacuum metalized? That's how aluminum is placed on plastic to produce a chrome like finish. Or is it a duller process like aluminized pipes?
Either way, could be a better way to go as I bet it don't burn or chip off easily.

:bb My bad...
I called them about it and at least the guy on the phone had the same confusion as me. They're only offering the fiberglass covers that you paint. The 'aluminized' refered to pipes. I guess I got excited because these were under the heading 'Fiberglass Side Exhaust Covers'. I guess there is no 'Holy Grail' when it comes to cheap replacements for these covers.
